The M&S Beauty Advent Calendar – is it worth buying?

Hi everyone! Christmas is now over, and the blues are starting to set in already. I thought I would do a round up of the Marks and Spencer beauty advent calendar. I see a lot of people do these posts before the beginning of advent, but to me it’s a waste because what’s the point in getting one to open all at once?

Day 1

In the first door I received a shower gel by the brand L’Occitane. I love this brand, so I was very happy when I opened this. Everyone always needs shower gel, right?

Day 2

I received a Filorga eye correction cream. I’d never used a product like this before so I was a bit sceptical, but I was surprised to see this actually works. I wasn’t really sure how to use it as it didn’t say anything on the tube, so I just popped it on with my moisturiser and it seemed to blur my dark circles slightly, so overall it’s a winner with me.

Day 3

This was a PRAI throat and décolletage crème which smells really nice, really softening and the pot is so pretty!

Day 4

In this door we got an Eyeko mascara. I will admit this isn’t my favourite mascara – it does the job but not nearly as well as some of the mascaras I already have. It also seems to clump up when you try to take it of so for me, not my favourite.

Day 5

A Shay & Blue perfume. This isn’t the type of scent I would normally reach for, but it’s nice nonetheless. It’s very botanical smelling, not sickly or sweet.

Day 6

A Philip Kingsley elasticizer! I was so happy to find this in the calendar, I’ve always wanted to try it. I will have a full review post coming soon!

Day 7

In this door there was a skyn Iceland berry lip fix. This is such a lovely lip balm, really moisturising. Big fan of this!

Day 8

A Leighton Denny nail varnish. This is such a pretty festive colour! It’s a shimmery deep red and is perfect for this time of year.

Day 9

We got a Ren night cream. This is a lovely overnight cream which makes your skin so smooth in the morning.

Day 10

In this door there was Percy & Reed overnight hair recovery, which I have tried a few times already and I love it!

Day 11

A Nuxe body cream, which is really lovely. It’s made my skin feel so soft.

Day 12

A Pixi rose tonic toner! I literally squealed when I opened this door, I was so hoping this would be in there! I’d always wanted to try this and I love it. So happy with this.

Day 13

In this door we received a HYASOFT instant moisture boost cream. This product is amazing. I’ve tried it a couple times so far and it adds such a boost to your normal moisturiser. Love this!

Day 14

A Leighton Denny glass nail file. I’ll admit I wasn’t thrilled to receive a nail file, I always feel like this is a cop out item they always include to keep the price down. However it is a glass one so I don’t feel too bad about it.

Day 15

We received a Studio 101 lip gloss. This is a really nice gloss, not too sticky and a lovely colour.

Day 16

In this door we got a Diego dalla Palma eyeliner. It’s a really nice eyeliner, however I don’t really wear it too often, but always handy!

Day 17

We got a balanceme wonder eye cream. I haven’t tried this yet but it seems like a nice eye cream. I’m not really an eye cream user so this may be donated to mum.

Day 18

A Formula Absolute sleep cream. Again, I haven’t tried this yet but it seems nice on my hand.

Day 19

In this door was an Autograph blush brush. Really handy to have so pleased with this, good quality too!

Day 20

A living proof perfect hair day styler – I’m not sure I’ll get much use out of this as I don’t tend to use styling products. I might put this in a giveaway or something otherwise it’ll be wasted.

Day 21

A thisworks mask, moisturiser and primer in one! This looks amazing and I can’t wait to try this out.

Day 22

On day 22 we got a Stila eyeliner in this really pretty bronze colour! I used this for my Christmas eve eye look and I fell in love with it.

Day 23

In this door there was an Autograph bronzer. It is a lovely colour, not too dark, and has a bit of shimmer in it for an extra festive touch. Again, I used this on Christmas eve and it gave me a lovely bronze glow.

Day 24

A L’Occitane divine crème. I will admit I had to google what to do with this as it had nothing on the packaging. It’s an anti-aging moisturiser, which smells amazing and feels really nice on the skin.

Day 25

In the final door was a thisworks deep sleep pillow spray. Although I really like this product, I kind of expected something a little bit more exciting in the Christmas Day door.

Overall I think this calendar is definitely aimed at an older demographic, as there were a lot of anti aging and skincare products that are perhaps for older ladies. I also thought it was a bit repetitive with the skincare and haircare, as there were a lot of face creams.

That being said, there were some really nice products that I’ve always wanted to try and that I’ll definitely use. I’m not sure I’d get this calendar again next year, I’d probably want to try out a different one.

Until next year.

  1. I was thinking about getting an M&S advent calendar this year. The products do look good, but some of them I probably wouldn’t use. Thanks for posting this!
