The most delicious spice mix by INYAMAT (ad)

This post is a paid advertisement, however all opinions remain my own.

Hi everyone! I feel like I haven’t featured anything food related in a little while, so today I’m here to share with you a new discovery – the INYAMAT spice mixes! I was very kindly sent one to try out, and honestly – it’s a game changer. I created a really lovely seafood and sausage dish, following the recipe that came with the mix.

Before I get onto the recipe, I first wanted to tell you a little bit about the brand themselves. INYAMAT is a family run, pop-up restaurant based in South Wales. They specialise in African food from across the continent, and cater for wedding functions, private dinner parties and corporate events.

During the pandemic they obviously couldn’t continue with this, so the owner Shebah Mimano decided to create spice mixes and recipe cards, so that people could create these delicious dishes from home themselves.

I went for the Mabelle seafood spice mix, which contains:

  • Paprika
  • Black Pepper
  • Onion
  • Parsley
  • Garlic
  • Chilli Powder
  • Sea Salt
  • Oregano
  • Thyme

The first thing I will say about this spice mix is that it definitely has a little bit of a kick to it, so if you don’t like spice maybe add less of the mix. I’m not one for using exact amounts of things like prawns or potatoes, so just use however many you fancy! You will need:

  • 4 sausages (I used Richmond veggie)
  • 3 diced potatoes
  • 1/4 cup of butter
  • 1 diced onion
  • 3 minced garlic cloves (I used easy garlic)
  • 1 diced bell pepper (I used red)
  • handful of king prawns
  • crab legs/seafood sticks (I used prawn flavour surimi tails)
  • 1tbsp spice mix (more or less to taste)

This was a pretty simple dish to make, and I’ve altered the method slightly to make it easier. Here’s what I did:

  1. Slice and cook the sausages in a large pan. Add the onion, butter, garlic, pepper and spice mix once the sausages are nearly done.
  2. Cook this for about 10 minutes before adding the potatoes and enough water to partially cover the mixture.
  3. Let this boil for 10-15 minutes (until the potatoes are soft enough to eat) – Don’t let the potatoes go too soft or they’ll go mushy.
  4. Add the prawns and seafood of choice and stir through until fully heated.

Eat on its own or add rice or pitta – whatever you fancy!

This was such a delicious, flavourful meal! Next time I will add a little less mix as it was quite spicy, but that definitely didn’t impact the flavour. I can’t wait to try some more of these mixes out! There are 6 to choose from, so definitely something to suit everyone.

Thank you to INYAMAT for working with me on this post. Make sure you check out their shop and Instagram for inspiration!

Until next time
