5 Summer date night ideas

As restrictions have been lifted, more and more singletons are starting to venture back out into the dating world, and coming up with cute and fun date ideas can be tricky, especially when you don’t know each other too well at this point. Summer evenings can be the perfect time to go for dates – you can still go outdoors as it’ll be light and warm. Here are a few date night ideas for the summer months!

Beach picnic or BBQ

If you’re lucky enough to live close to a beach, you should definitely plan a trip one evening. I’ve found evenings can be a lot more enjoyable, as it’s much quieter and you can sometimes catch a really gorgeous sunset. It can be a really inexpensive date too. Pack up a little picnic, a blanket and maybe a mini BBQ and get settled in a quiet spot. So romantic.

Mini/crazy golf

Following on from the beach, a lot of bigger seaside towns often have a mini golf course, which stay open into the evening. Some also offer cocktails or beer too which can settle those date nerves! Mini golf is such a fun idea, it’s relaxed and not too formal, but you can still have a nice conversation at the same time. Again, this doesn’t tend to cost a bomb, so would be perfect for very early dates when you don’t know if you like each other yet!

Zoo/safari

A trip to the zoo or a safari park is always a fun day out. They often have evening events or stay open later during the summer, so it might be nice to go and have a walk around when it’s not quite as hot and not as busy. Again, you can take a picnic with you and make a lovely evening of it. It’s also supporting zoos and charities that have had a bad year of funding!

Outdoor cinema night

Whilst I think a regular cinema is an awful early date idea, as you can’t speak to each other so what’s the point? I think outdoor cinemas are a great. You’re not too close to other people, so you can still talk to each other quietly, and most of the time they show films that you’ve probably seen a million times anyway so it’s ok if you don’t fully concentrate on it. Get the wine poured, the snacks out and the blanket down and it could be such a romantic evening.

Amusement park/fair

Once a year, a little fair comes to my town. It’s only small, with a few rides to go on (normally the sicky, spinning ones), bumper cars, games and stalls. It could be such a cute idea to go to one of these one evening! Cosy up on the bumper cars (or separate ones if the date isn’t going too well), share some candy floss and try and win the other a teddy at the coconut shy! Just try not to be sick on some of the rides – this will definitely cut the evening short.

  1. I’m single but I love going to the zoo on a solo date. I live in eastern Hungary and we have a famous zoo here. Foreigners come to visit it all year round.
The outdoor cinema sounds fun. I’ve never tried it.
