5 Small ways to make yourself feel and look healthier in the Autumn months (ad)

This post contains gifted products sent for review. However all opinions are my own.

As the colder months start to roll in, we all want to keep our skin and bodies looking and feeling healthier. I don’t know about you, but I definitely feel a little healthier during the summer months. It’s warm, it’s sunny, and we tend to get a lot more fresh air than we would during the winter. I also find myself eating cleaner in the warmer months and for some reason I always feel a little more sluggish during the colder months. I’m determined to keep the good, healthy feeling going this year, and here are a few things I’m determined to do to make myself feel and look healthier in the winter:

1 – Drink lots of water

I always find it so easy to drink water in the summer, but I barely ever do in the winter. We want hot drinks and more comforting drinks when it’s cold, and I always turn to Pepsi during the day. This year I’m determined to keep my water bottle with me and drink lots of water. It’s so important for your skin and general health, and I know that when I’ve drank a few bottles I feel so much better about myself.

2 – Fighter Shots

A recent discovery of mine are Fighter Shots. These are all-natural, cold-pressed ginger shots, which you can take any time of the day to give yourself a vitamin boost. Native to Asia, ginger has been used for over 4,000 years for both cooking and medicinal purposes. It’s well-known for its energy increasing properties, ability to strengthen the immune system, reduce motion sickness and improve blood flow. Having ginger regularly can also decrease the risk of developing colon cancer, aid in ovarian cancer treatment, promote respiratory health and minimize morning sickness.

I was recently sent a few to try from Fighter Shots, which I have been trying out over the past week or so. Fighter Shots have a selection of different ginger based shots to choose from, as well as plain ginger:

Ginger & Turmeric – associated with reducing inflammation of the joints, accelerating workout recovery and increasing antioxidant capacity in the body.

Ginger & Beetroot – packed with essential nutrients, a great source of fibre, folate (vitamin B9), manganese, potassium, iron, and vitamin C. Beetroot has been associated with numerous health benefits, including improved blood flow, lower blood pressure, and increased exercise performance.

Ginger & Manuka Honey – made with real New Zealand Manuka Honey. Support digestion, increases energy and is linked to boosting immunity.

Having one of these shots daily, or even every other day, I have felt an increase of energy and I feel far less bloated than I usually do. I’m not sure if it’s a placebo, but I’ve felt so much healthier after having one of these first thing in the morning, it sets me up for the day and gives me the kick up the bum I sometimes need. If you’re not a fan of the taste of ginger, these might not be for you. However I really love the taste of ginger so these are a delight! I will be continuing to have these as I’m loving the benefits I’m getting from them.

3 – Fresh air

It’s so easy this time of year to pretty much lock yourself inside and not get a breath of fresh air for days. Take time out of your day to go for a stroll outside and breathe in the fresh air. I find it easier to do this in the evening as I start work early, but going in the morning may be better so it doesn’t get put off.

4 – Skincare

Having a good evening skincare routine in place always makes me feel like I’ve got my life together. My skin feels so much better (although it sometimes doesn’t look like it) and I just overall feel better about myself. I recently updated my evening skincare routine which you can read about here.

5 – Oral care

During the colder months we can start to feel a little dull. Our hair doesn’t shine the same, our skin has lost it’s glow and we just don’t sparkle as much as we do in the summer. One way of feeling and appearing brighter is by doing all I can to look after my teeth, because then at least when I smile something will shine! I always find when my teeth are looking good, I have so much more confidence. I was kindly sent some products to try out by the brand Luvbiotics which I have been trying out over the past few weeks:

Whitening toothpaste – I love trying out new whitening products, and this one doesn’t disappoint. I can already see an improvement in colour and brightness after only a few uses. It also tastes really lovely and fresh too, although it doesn’t foam up very much which isn’t my favourite as I like a foamy toothpaste.

Lozenges – These are a great way of freshening up your mouth and cleaning your teeth and gums throughout the day.

Advanced Dental Mouthwash – I’ve recently been enjoying using a mouthwash after brushing to get that extra clean feeling. I really like this particular one as it has a lovely strong mint taste but isn’t too overpowering. It makes my mouth feel squeaky clean after using it!

What are some of the things you do to keep yourself feeling healthy during the colder months?

Until next time.

  1. Great post, I love those little bottles made with ginger. It looks just enough to get you going for the day. As for me, I usually just try to keep warm, meditate and journal during the colder months.

  2. Ginger is amazing — I use it to help with my anxiety because it calms my stomach and gives me a boost of energy (I have chews but I’m loving the idea of the shots). It can be used in so many ways and for so many different things it’s like a wonder medicine!
