What I love and hate about the Autumn season

Hi everyone! Welcome to day 6 of blogtober, and today I’m talking about things that I love and hate about Autumn. Everyone always says it’s their favourite season, and I will admit it’s one of mine, but there are quite a few things about this season that I cannot stand! So without further ado, let’s get into it!

Things I love about Autumn:

The cosiness – There’s nothing nicer this time of year than being snuggled up under a blanket on a Sunday morning, watching a film with the rain hammering down outside. It can be such a comforting feeling and can make me feel relaxed. Recently my life has been a bit all over the place and I feel like a nice Autumn morning will be a good time to unwind.

Crisp sunny mornings – One of my favourite types of Autumn mornings are the ones where it’s cold outside, but really sunny and fresh. It’s normally toward the end of the season as we transition to winter, but it’s lovely to wrap up and go out for a little walk and some fresh air.

Autumn colours – I absolutely love all the colours associated with Autumn. My favourites are the rusty oranges and the tans.

Heeled boots and leather jackets – If anyone was to describe me, they’d almost always say I’m wearing some sort of heeled ankle boot and leather jacket combo. They’re my favourite things to wear, and I love when Autumn rolls around because I can crack them out again!

The run up to Christmas – Lastly, one of my favourite things about Autumn is the fact that it’s officially the countdown to Christmas. Everyone starts to wind down after the summer, and there’s an atmosphere that goes along with it.

Things I dislike about Autumn:

Having to go out in the horrible weather – As much as I said previously I enjoy a cosy, rainy Sunday morning, that’s my limit. Let’s face it we all still have lives to live, work to go to, and it just ruins the day when you end up a drowned rat on your way out the door. Hair gets ruined, makeup runs everywhere and feet get wet. And it’s still too hot to be wearing a big coat! Which takes me onto my next point…

Coats and layers – Don’t get me wrong, a coat can look nice during the Autumn, and can completely make an outfit – but it’s just too hot! I get hot walking around anyway, so chuck on a coat and scarf and I’m so uncomfortable. I love a thick cosy jumper as much as the next person, but I draw the line at wearing one with a jacket and coat on top! I don’t know how people do it.

Dark mornings and evenings – I absolutely hate driving to work in the dark and then it starting to go dark once I get home. Darker evenings means shorter days which I’m just not a fan of. It feels like there’s less time in the evening, which I know there isn’t but it makes it feel like it’s shorter.

Spiders – It’s officially house spider season, the thought of which makes my skin crawl. As I’m writing this (9/9) I’ve already found 2 of the buggers lurking in the house, so I dread to think how many more have come out by the time this is live! I’ve been trying some repellent methods to try and get rid of them, which you can read about here.

  1. Fall is my favorite season! But the lack of sun is definitely not my favorite. I bought a sunrise simulator lamp that’s helped me waking up early!

  2. I’m SO with you on all of these (except I can’t wear heels, so it’s flat boots for me lol)
Currently can’t stand freezing cold mornings, vs temperate evenings, so I don’t know what to wear to work! I either arrive freezing, or get home a hot mess.

Glad I’m also not alone in terms of spiders! We had a HUGE one the other day *shudders*
    Thanks for sharing!
