Although I passed my driving test almost 8 years ago, I can sometimes still be a bit of a nervous driver, especially on routes I’ve never driven before. One device I have been looking into for a while now is a dash cam, so I can record my route in case of any accidents, and I know I will have all the information I need if it’s not my fault.
I recently received a dash cam from the company Nextbase, and I’d be lying if I said it hadn’t changed my life. My driving confidence has shot up since setting up a dash cam, because I know that if anything were to happen, I’d be covered.
Emergency SOS
I have the 322GW model, which includes revolutionary new safety features. The 1080p HD model uses Emergency SOS to alert the emergency services to your location in the event of an accident (additional subscription fee). Here’s how it works:
- The device detects the crash (low speed/impact might not be detected).
- A timer will start to count down on your mobile app – if you press cancel, the countdown will end.
- If you do not deactivate the countdown, when it gets to the end it will notify the emergency services.
- They will then phone your mobile and if there is no response, they will dispatch to your location.
I think this is a really really great feature, as it immediately cuts accident response time, especially in quiet areas where other people may not see the accident.
The 322GW dash cam automatically syncs files to your phone, and has an extremely high quality camera so it will catch those all important number plates and road sign details. It also has a feature called intelligent parking mode which, if activated, will automatically record any bump or physical movement on the vehicle while left unattended.

That emergency SOS mode is so important, especially for those that live or are driving out in the countryside where there isn’t a lot of traffic. If you crash in town, someone is likely going to see it happen or come across your vehicle very shortly after the accident. However, the same can’t be said when you’re out in the ‘middle of nowhere’. Having it alert the emergency crews as to your location is so smart!

I really love the sound of a dashcam. I’m also a bit of a nervous driver at times, despite passing my test like, 10 years ago. I think I’d feel much safer and secure with something like this! x

I can think of so many times when this would have been extremely useful. Saved me money, time, humiliation, and even danger. I don’t have a car now but I would definitely invest in one of these if I get one.

We recently purchased the 522 model, but I still haven’t played with all of the features yet! After having a near crash when a truck clearly didn’t look my way and I managed to swerve without hitting them, me and my mum decided we needed to get one then and there. Having one really does make you feel more confident! x

I’ve been wanting to get a dashcam too for safety purposes and because I’m a nervous driver as well. I love how the next base dash cam has an emergency SOS feature. I’ll definitely be on the lookout for that brand when I do shop for dashcams. I hope it’s available in Southeast Asia. 😊
